Guomaofu: A Poetic Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

The inspiration behind Guomaofu was to create a poetic and picturesque space that reflects the essence of Chinese traditional aesthetics. The design combines the natural landscape of famous mountains and rivers with the imperial palace's strict etiquette, showcasing the cultural pursuit of modern Chinese residents who appreciate subtlety and grandeur.

What sets Guomaofu apart is its profound cultural origin of the royal garden, combined with a unique concept of modern landscape. It inherits the elegant and natural taste of Jiangnan gardens, with an emphasis on symmetry and hierarchy, displaying the royal garden's magnificence, nobility, and elegance. The design also pays attention to the presentation of the four seasons landscape, ensuring a visually pleasing experience throughout the year.

The realization of Guomaofu involved setting up two rows of welcome trees in a pool on both sides of the axis road decorated with white marble. The road meanders along the water, creating a linear streamline space. Outdoor tables and chairs are set up by the waterside, providing residents with a tranquil spot to relax and enjoy the surrounding beauty.

The design respects not only historical landscapes but also humanistic care. Guomaofu combines the new Chinese-style oriental garden landscape of water, stone, forest, pine, book, tea, and music to form a unique poetic landscape garden system. This creates a tourist-friendly, feasible, hopeful, and livable landscape, reminiscent of a leisurely and natural life.

The project, which spans a total area of 7650 square meters, including 5050 square meters of landscape, was completed in October 2020 in Tangshan, Hebei, China. The design team, led by Zou Yubo, faced the challenge of integrating humanization, the winding path of the natural garden, natural water system, and romantic garden into the community life while maintaining privacy and security. The result is a design that not only meets these requirements but also expresses strict etiquette and noble temperament.

Guomaofu's design has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award in 2022. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
